New features in Web of Knowledge

A new version of Web of Knowledge was launched. New features include a new search field Organization-Enhanced, the option to search by a specific date range (instead of by years) and alert enhancements.

Organization-enhanced
In Web of Science you can search by the field 'Organization-enhanced' (called OG in the advanced search). Web of Science has unified about 2000 organizations, matching name variants and seperate departments or institutions within an organization (for example RSM Erasmus Univ). The Erasmus University Rotterdam is also searchable with this field, but please note: Erasmus MC isn't included! When you use this option, be aware that not all organizations have been unified at this moment.
When you select the field 'Organization-enhanced' in the drop down menu, a magnifier glass button appears next to the field. When you click this button you can search the index of organizations.
After searching in this index, you'll get the unified name. Under the button D you find the list of all added name variants and departments.

Searching by date range
Previously you could only search by year of publication or processing, now you can enter a specific date range.

Alert enhancements
After performing a search in Web of Science, you find a button 'Create Alert/RSS' in the left upper corner of the screen, under the search string. To create an alert you still need an account, but you don't have to go to Search History to find this option.

Searching by Research Areas
The Subject Areas in Web of Knowledge have been renamed, they are now called Research Areas (SU in the advanced search). The Research Area classification consists of 150 categories.
