ISI Web of Science

Web of Science (WoS) offers access to scholarly literature in all science fields and contains bibliographical information for articles from approximately 9,500 scholarly journals dating back to 1988. More and more articles are available as full text also. WoS is also a so-called citation database: using this database, you can look up who has cited a particular journal article. Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) is just one of the components of this database.

Journal Citation Reports

The Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) publishes, via the Journal Citation Reports database, a yearly overview of scholarly journals by discipline, ranked by impact factor. The impact factor of a journal is a measure of how often, on average, an article in a journal is cited in a certain year. The impact factor of a journal can give you an idea of how important the journal is in comparison to other journals within the same field.
