RefWorks
Welcome to the RefWorks course of the University Library (UL) of the Erasmus University Rotterdam.
This course is a part of the Information literacy modular training method. The menu on the left of this screen shows the table of contents of this course.
After going through the RefWorks course, you will be able to:
- Create a RefWorks account.
- Import references from databases and catalogues into RefWorks.
- Manage imported references in your RefWorks database.
- Use RefWorks for correct citations and references in bibliographies and texts.
- Share your references with other people.
Part of this course is a pdf-file with step-by-step guides explaining how to import references from the databases of the University Library into your RefWorks account. You can find this pdf-file here.
Searching for information: a searchplan
Since information can be found in different ways and in many sources, it is useful to draw up a search plan. A search plan (or step-by-step plan) adds structure to your search process, defines the question and indicates the start and end of the search. Registering your search results is also a part of this search plan.
Below you can see where this course, and the use of RefWorks, fits into the whole process of searching for literature. To make the most of RefWorks you should use the program in the step 'Searching' as well, by exporting the titles found in a database or catalogue directly to your database.
