RefGrab-it
With RefGrab-It, RefWorks searches an internet page, for example a page from an online bookstore. It searches for ISBN, DOI, RSS or PubMedIDs. With this information RefWorks searches on the Internet for more information about the title. You can import this information into RefWorks.
There are two versions of RefWorks available: a bookmarklet and a plug-in. Both have to be downloaded first. The plug-in has more functions than the bookmarklet.
Installing and using the RefGrab-it bookmarklet
You install the bookmarklet as follows:
- Click in RefWorks on Tools and choose RefGrab-it.
- Click with the right mouse button on the RefGrab-it bookmarklet link.
- Choose Add to favorites. You can also add RefGrab-it to the links-toolbar.
When you have opened an internetpage with information you want to export to RefWorks, click RefGrab-it in your favorites or links. A pop-up will appear, where you can mark the titles you want to export to your RefWorks-account. Click the button Import to RefWorks to actually export the selected titles to your RefWorks-account.
Installing and using the RefGrab-it plug-in
You install the plug-in as follows:
- Click in RefWorks on Tools and choose RefGrab-it.
- Click on the RefGrab-It Plug-In link of the browser you use (IE or Firefox)
- Follow the directions on the screen.
When you find information on an internetpage you want to export to RefWorks, click on the RefGrab-it icon in your browser (the red RefWorks symbol). You mark the titel(s) you want to export. Then, click the button Import to RefWorks.
