Copyright
Copyright is an important component of the publication process. It protects your rights and intellectual property against things like plagiarism, publication without attribution and mutilation.
Copyright seems quite simple, but as soon as exceptions are taken into consideration, it can become complicated. Think, for example, of copyright with respect to multiple authors, different rights when you publish in an international journal and copyright with respect to open access. Therefore, make sure that you read up on this topic, and are up to date when you make agreements with the publisher.
In The Netherlands, copyright is split into two components:
- Exploitation rights
- Moral rights (personality rights)
