Searching by following up references
All scholarly articles and books make use of literature references to enable verification of the contents of documents. You can also use literature references to find documents. Other terms for literature references are footnotes, endnotes or citations.
The two most common methods of literature references for finding documents are:
- The snowball method: a search method for finding older documents about your subject.
- The citation method: a search method that enables you to find topical documents about your subject.
