institute for Medical Technology Assessment (iMTA)

For over two decades already, the institute for Medical Technology Assessment (iMTA) has played a key role in MTA research in the Netherlands, in Europe and worldwide. The institute was founded in 1988, at the Erasmus University Rotterdam by Professor Frans Rutten. The iMTA is a university-based scientific institute that is distinguished by independent and excellent research in medical technology assessment, including health economics and health outcomes research. It is dedicated to support the use of cost-effectiveness information in healthcare decision making. To date, over 600 research projects have been completed in various areas of medicine. Major funding bodies like governments and government-related institutions, the European Commission, the WHO, health care organizations, charity foundations and the pharmaceutical industry, sponsored these projects.
