• Professor Huibert Pols

    Professor Huibert Pols (1952) has been Rector Magnificus of Erasmus University Rotterdam since 8 November 2013.

    He obtained both his medical degree and his PhD at Erasmus University Medical Centre. In 1998, he was appointed Professor of Internal Medicine. From October 2006 to April 2013, he was Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and Vice Chairman of the Board of Erasmus MC.

  • Professor Rutger Engels

    Professor Rutger Engels will be Rector Magnificus of Erasmus University Rotterdam from 15 June 2018 onwards. Until 1 May, Professor Rutger Engels (1968) is President of the Board of Directors of the Trimbos Institute (since 2014) and Professor of Developmental Psychopathology at the University of Utrecht. Professor Engels conducts leading research into the development and prevention of substance use and internalising problems amongst young people.

  • Dr Payal Arora

    Payal Arora is an Associate Professor at the Department of Media & Communication. She is the founder and Executive Director of Catalyst Lab, a centre that reignites relations between academia, industry and the public via social media campaigns. Much of her research focuses on digital economies, cultures and activism in the global South. Her teaching has been recognised through a number of best teacher nominations and awards, including the Erasmus University Education Prize in 2017.

  • Professor Liesbeth van Rossum

    Professor Liesbeth van Rossum is an internist-endocrinologist at Erasmus MC and Professor in the field of Obesity and Biological Stress. Her research concerns obesity and its underlying causes and treatments, as well as the role of long term cortisol exposure and stress-related diseases like obesity and depression. She is the co-founder of the Obesity Centre CGG (Centrum Gezond Gewicht),

    She received several grants and was appointed member of the Young Academy of the Royal Dutch Academy of Sciences (De Jonge Akademie of the KNAW) in 2016.
