Fellows FAQ

The CLI does not offer a project management course or formal instruction in managing your fellowship. As a fellow, you are responsible for the management of your fellowship as well as the execution of the tasks required to successfully complete it. For advice you may contact Vanda Fortes, PMO for fellowship affairs at vanda.fortes@eur.nl

CLI fellows receive by default salary costs equivalent to one day a week (0,2 fte) to work on your project or research. It is your responsibility to ensure that this day is used to work on your fellowship. Prior to applying to your fellowship, an agreement was made with your manager to ensure you will have the reduction in your workload. If your faculty is unable to facilitate your needs, please contact our academic director Jeroen Jansz (jansz@eshcc.eur.nl).

The CLI will cover the costs of one student assistant at a time for the total duration of your fellowship for a maximum of 0,2 fte. Your student assistant will be directly billed to the CLI. The process of hiring a student assistant is as follows:

a. In an email to Vanda Fortes (vanda.fortes@eur.nl), clearly indicate the following:

  1. Duration and fte needed
  2. Tasks of student assistant plus deliverables
  3. Name of student assistant

b. Upon approval, you will receive further information from the PMO about hiring your SAS.

c. If your request is not approved due to of insufficient information, you will receive feedback and will be allowed to resubmit after the appropriate changes are made.

The CLI does not have a student assistant pool. You may choose your own assistant. For requesting the support of a student assistant, please refer to the FAQ above this one.

The CLI requires every fellow to report every six months on the progress of your fellowship. A reminder will be sent to you by the PMO in January and September, with a request to fill in the report.

If you encounter a delay due to unforeseen circumstances, you are required to report this to the CLI PMO Vanda Fortes (vanda.fortes@eur.nl).

If this delay is due to a problem with setting up or executing research, it is strongly advised to contact the CLI fellowship ambassador Marloes Nederhand (m.l.nederhand@essb.eur.nl). She will be able to provide you with tips on your research.

The CLI does not offer extensions, so if you are unable to recover from the delay, your fellowship will still end at the planned date (including reserved 0,2 fte). After this date, you may continue to work on your fellowship and deliver your end report at a later to be determined date, approved by the CLI.

Depending on what you need to successfully complete your fellowship, the CLI can provide you with other support, beyond student assistants. For example:

  • educational support and advice
  • facilities to make recordings, or animations

In order to acquire CLI funding for these services, a project request form will need to be filled out. Once submitted, it will be reviewed, and you will hear back from the CLI within two weeks with further steps. For more information on how to fill in this form, please visit the section 'innovation projects'.
