What do we do?

By organising lectures, debates, courses, performances and events for students and other interested public, our goals are to:

  • Provide insight into the coherence of sciences.
  • Contribute to a social sense of responsibility.
  • Contribute to cultural and social development/growth.

In addition to producing events ourselves, Studium Generale cooperates with many different organisations. Frequently, we are contacted by study and student associations as well as organisations from outside EUR who suggest we organise an event, lecture, workshop or excursion together.

Studium Generale is always open to new ideas and joint ventures. But even if it is just advice concerning the organisation of an event that you are looking for, you can always contact us. Are you planning to organise a lecture or debate, are you looking for a (student) band or act for a conference, would you like to organise an excursion for students or are you looking for partners for a scientific, cultural or cross-over event?  Contact us via email or telephone.

At the entrance of Erasmus Pavilion, you will be able to find our photo exhibition. We exhibit various work or photos from our events or from students and staff of Erasmus University. Are you interested? Contact us via email or telephone.

Studium Generale organises various courses. These courses are intended exclusively for students (up to 27 years old) and staff of the Erasmus University Rotterdam. For EUR staff (which in this case includes PhD and part-time students) we have a limited number of places available in each course. Most courses are taught in English.

The current (cultural) workshops & courses can be found in our calendar. Registering for courses and workshops can be done via our Stager webshop with IDEAL and Credit Card.

Please note:

  • You can register for a course up until one week before the course starts, unless tickets are sold out earlier.
  • Once you have registered, it is no longer possible to undo your course registration.
  • One week before the start of the course, we will decide whether the course starts or not. This depends on whether we have reached the minimum number of participants.
  • If a course is cancelled, you will be notified of this and you will get refunded.

Not the course you are looking for?
For language and study related courses you can contact the Language and Training Centre of the EUR.

Various cultural student associations are active at the Erasmus University Rotterdam. Each association has its own members, rehearsals, performances and other activities. More information about these associations can be found on the page about our partners. Together with Studium Generale, the cultural associations form the Cultural Platform of the EUR. Every year in April Studium Generale organises an event where all the cultural associations work together and perform together.
