Dr. M.W. (Meike) Vernooij MD (Erasmus MC)

Meike Vernooij, MD PhD is principal investigator of Population Imaging at the departments of Radiology and Epidemiology at Erasmus MC. Her main area of research is use of non-invasive brain imaging to unravel the etiology of neurologic diseases in the elderly, with a particular focus on Alzheimer’s disease and stroke. Moreover, she studies whether imaging markers can be used to identify persons at highest risk of developing disease. She has authored over 70 peer-reviewed publications and is currently supervising 10 PhD students. In addition to her research, Dr. Vernooij is working as a clinical neuroradiologist and head & neck radiologist at Erasmus MC, again with a particular focus on imaging in the diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases.
