About the Schwarzman Scholar Program

Designed to prepare the next generation of global leaders, Schwarzman Scholars is the first scholarship created to respond to the geopolitical landscape of the 21st Century. Whether in politics, business or science, the success of future leaders around the world will depend upon an understanding of China’s role in global trends.

With the inaugural class enrolled in 2016, the program gives the world’s best and brightest students the opportunity to develop their leadership skills and professional networks through a one-year Master’s Degree at Tsinghua University in Beijing – one of China’s most prestigious universities. Students live and study together on the campus of Schwarzman College, a newly-built, state-of-the-art facility, where all classes are taught in English.

  • This scholarship is intended for a one-year master's degree at Tsinghua University in Beijing, specifically designed to prepare the next generation of global leaders. Candidates therefore must be competitive and excellent students, showing leadership potential;
  • You are currently enrolled in a undergraduate degree programme and must be on track to successfully complete all degree requirements before orientation begins;
  • You are planning to study at Tsinghua University in Beijing;
  • All fields of undergraduate studies are welcome. More important is to articulate how participating in Schwarzman Scholars will help develop their leadership potential within their field;
  • You are between the ages of 18 and 28;
  • You must demonstrate strong English skills; 
    If the applicant’s native language is not English, official English proficiency test scores must be submitted with the application. See the Schwarzman website for more information about the tests and possible exemption.

  • Level of study: Bachelor graduate

Scholarships will include:

  • Tuition fees
  • Room and board
  • Travel to and from Beijing at the beginning and end of the academic year
  • An in-country study tour
  • Required course books and supplies
  • Lenovo laptop and smartphone
  • Health insurance
  • A personal stipend of $4,000

  2. Upload transcripts and academic records;
  3. Submit 4 electronic letters of recommendation;
  4. Submit an introduction video of yourself (highly recommended);

  6. Upload your resume.
