The Erasmus Centre for Economics & Values

The Erasmus Centre for Economics & Values has been launched in 2019, following the acceptance of the chair on Relational Economics, Values & Leadership by prof. dr. Lans Bovenberg at the Erasmus School of Economics.

The Centre facilitates fundamental research on the relationships between economics and human values, the role of leadership and the dynamics of cooperation. It forms an academic network within Erasmus University Rotterdam with respect to values and economics, attracting experts, postdocs and graduate students from the fields of economics, theology, management and business.

The relational mode of thinking in research is also promoted by the Centre to serve to the benefit of society. Three initiatives pursue this goal in the realms of business, education, and society.

[Re]Value

For businesses and organizations there is [Re]Value, an educational and coaching program that offers an interactive mix of lectures, in-company workshops and executive coaching. It is highly recommended to managing directors if they desire:

  • The alignment of individual employee behaviour with their personal values, the shared values in teams and organizational values of the organization;
  • Addressing the deep, intrinsic motivations of employees in a program that views personal and social values as both a means and an end itself;
  • A hands-on approach to manage the power and threats of uniformity and diversity when it comes to values;
  • Raising awareness on the responsibility of leaders and their impact on productive cooperation within the organization.

The SIEO Foundation for Innovation in Economics Education
