erasmus mc open dag

Due to the high demand from students seeking internships at Erasmus MC, we are currently only accepting applications from universities that already have established partnerships with Erasmus MC.

If your home university has signed a Memorandum of Understanding or a bilateral agreement with Erasmus MC (for instance, within the framework of the EUR Erasmus+ program), we will try our best to find a placement in one of the departments. Please note that your university needs to contact us first and nominate you officially.

Clinical Electives

If you wish to do a clinical elective, you will need to have completed at least four years of medical training.

Internships can last up to a maximum of 4 weeks per department, with a maximum of two departments per student.

Placement is always subject to availability in the departments.

Please be aware that if you do not speak Dutch, there is a small chance to be placed in a department, as most departments have a Dutch language requirement (C1 level). Here is a list of departments that have a Dutch requirement (list is not exclusive):

  • Cardiology
  • Dermatology
  • Otolaryngology
  • Family Medicine
  • Gynaecology & Obstetrics
  • Intensive Care
  • Internal Medicine (including Hematology, Oncology, Immunology & Rheumatology)
  • Neurology
  • Neurosurgery
  • Orthopaedics; Physiotherapy
  • Paediatrics
  • Psychiatry
  • Public Health
  • Urology
  • Nursing

Also, take into consideration that you will need to arrive at least five days prior to the start of your elective. A mandatory MRSA test will need to be done here at our institute. External MRSA tests will not be accepted.
