The Top Article Award recognises outstanding research in management. It honours ERIM PhD candidates, Members and Associate Members who are lead authors of influential articles published in top-tier journals, demonstrating the potential to make a significant scholarly and societal impact. Recipients of this award are distinguished by exceptional novelty, methodological rigour, and relevance for both academia and society, alongside engagement with open and responsible scholarship.
Every year, ERIM presents the ERIM Awards to recognise members of our research community who demonstrate outstanding performance and academic excellence. The event typically consists of an awards ceremony, preceded by drinks and followed by lunch, offering the chance to mingle and (re)connect with peers and colleagues.
The awards celebrate achievements across several categories:
The Outstanding Performance by a Young Researcher Award celebrates an early-stage ERIM Member or ERIM Associate Member who demonstrates exceptional research performance and promise. Young researchers who have obtained their PhD within the past six years and are making significant contributions to their field show strong potential to shape the future of research. Research quality, originality and innovation, as well as engagement with open and responsible scholarship are central to this award.
The Best Full-time PhD Dissertation Award recognises the most outstanding dissertation in the ERIM Full-Time PhD Series in Management & Economics. Awarded to ERIM PhDs whose work demonstrates independence, originality, and methodological rigour, it highlights dissertations that exemplify excellent research practices. The quality of publications, citations, and early professional placement, alongside engagement with open and responsible scholarship, reflects the distinction of the dissertation.
The Best Part-time PhD Dissertation Award recognises the most outstanding dissertation in the ERIM Part-Time PhD Series in Management & Economics. This award goes to ERIM PhDs whose work demonstrates independence, originality, and methodological rigour, setting them apart. Distinction is demonstrated through evidence of societal engagement and impact, as well as the application of open and responsible scholarship.
Each year, ERIM researchers are invited to submit (self-)nominations for the ERIM Awards. Alongside the call for nominations, an appendix is provided outlining the criteria for every award category, as well as the general rules.
All nominations undergo an initial eligibility review by the Scientific Director of ERIM and Associate Director. These nominations are then assessed by a jury committee. Each award jury consists of a mix of internal and external members, who select the award winners and explain their choices.
Award winners are announced during the ERIM Awards ceremony, where they are presented with a certificate signed by the Rector Magnificus of Erasmus University Rotterdam.
