Insurance

You are by law obliged to be properly insured, especially for medical expenses, during your time in the Netherlands. In addition, third-party liability insurance is absolutely essential, and if you will be living in student accommodation, it is also a good idea to have fire and furnishings insurance. Transport

Rotterdam can be reached in many ways and has an extensive network of public transportation. Public transport in Rotterdam is well organised: the trams, buses and metro are scheduled to link perfectly. Others may prefer to take part in the Dutch lifestyle and to go around by bike. Airport welcome service

Registering at City Hall

If you will be living in the Netherlands for more than 4 months, you are obliged to register at the City Hall in the town in which you are living. More information about registration at City Hall Rotterdam.

Opening a bank account

As an international student at Erasmus University Rotterdam, opening a Dutch bank account might come in handy, for example to be able to request a refund of your immigration deposit (only applicable to non-EU students). More information about opening a back account.

One stop shop

Every year, Erasmus University Rotterdam organizes One Stop Shop events, where students can arrange their practical matters such as registering at the City Hall. More information & registration.
