Current facets (Pre-Master)
Class of 2013 (Graduated in 2016)
Master Business Administration - International Strategy at UVA, NL
What was important in making up your mind?
I have to admit, the GMAT was the biggest factor affecting my decision. I wanted to continue with a masters in business, and did not have time to combine two theses with a GMAT.
However, I also wanted to explore a new city as well as meet new people and Amsterdam lent itself perfectly to this. It’s a very dynamic city and university and has allowed me to develop further on both an academic and personal level.
What made you decide to choose for this master?
It was always my plan to continue with a Master in Business. The programme in Amsterdam is very diverse and they have various tracks (from International Strategy and Leadership, to Entrepreneurship, Creative Industries and Digital Business). The diversity in courses and professors, as well as being in the business hub Amsterdam ultimately led to me choosing this programme.
How would you describe the connection between IBCoM and your master?
Skillwise, I benefitted greatly from having done the IBCOM programme - this is especially the case with academic skills such as writing papers and critical thinking.
How would you describe your master?
Edifying - So far the Master is everything I expected it to be, the pace is fast but you’re able to keep up with it. The professors are insightful and well-traveled which adds an extra dimension to the classes.
In hindsight, what would you have liked to know before, what you know now?
One of the first courses - the Business Seminar, is given weekly in the Carré theater (beautiful location) and it exposes you to all sorts of companies as speakers such as the CEO from TomTom and startups such as VandeBron will come and give a lecture.
