Maria Grever and student James Scharink present a paper at the Rijksmuseum symposium The Battle on Memory: 'Learning for the Fatherland? The Battle of Waterloo in Dutch history textbooks' (Leren voor het vaderland? De Slag bij Waterloo in Nederlandse geschiedenismethoden). The paper elaborates on the research of master student James Scharink and two other master students, supervised by Maria Grever. Several well known historians present papers on Waterloo from a military perspective, in literature, cultural history, and the arts, delivered by Ben Schoenmaker, Jeroen van Zanten, Lotte Jensen, Tom verschaffel and others.
