Biography
**Didier Goossens - born on March 21, 1996 - is a lecturer and doctoral researcher in the Department of Arts and Culture Studies, Erasmus University Rotterdam. **
He studied literary and cultural studies at KU Leuven, where he wrote two MA theses, one on transcribing the handwriting of Dutch author Jacob Cats (2018) and one on glocalization and the New Zealand metal band Alien Weaponry (2019). Following his academic passion for the latter, he continues this specialization in the globalization and glocalization of popular music in his doctoral research.
His project, entitled The Empire Shreds Back: Glocal Music, Global Stereotypes and Discourse in the Popular Music Industry, focuses on the production, dissemination and reception of glocalized music and associated stereotypes throughout the popular music industry. His overall interests involve cultural identities, processes of globalization/glocalization and global flows in popular culture and music.
Furthermore, he lectures in various first-year courses of the IBACS and ACW bachelor programmes. He is also an academic supervisor for student internships in the second year of these programmes.
