Some must-do and must-sees in Rotterdam:

  • Witte de Withkwartier: the 'Witte de Withkwartier' is the vibrant heart of the Rotterdam art scene and is known for its dynamic nightlife.

  • Historisch Delfshaven: a picturesque corner of Rotterdam, Historic Delfshaven is a wonderful place to go wandering. Once part of Delft, this inner harbour has a grand place in history. Delfshaven is known internationally as the port of departure for the Pilgrim Fathers. In the 21st century, Delfshaven is a nostalgic, intimate area with an expansive waterfront, canals and historic buildings and courtyards.

  • Katendrecht: once Rotterdam's Chinatown, attracting homesick sailors and lusty whores in equal measure, Katendrecht is now home to the hip and happening – and a dream destination for foodies! Over the past few years, this peninsula has become one of the liveliest parts of town without losing its rougher edges.

  • Centraal Station Rotterdam: Rotterdam Central Station is also known as the international gateway to Rotterdam. Central Station has had a total makeover in recent years, making the station one of the most iconic architectural features in Rotterdam.

  • De Rotterdam (building): ‘de Rotterdam’ is an iconic example of urban architecture. The three linked towers are nearly 150 metres high, forming a ‘vertical city’ of high-class flats, a 4-star hotel, offices, shops, restaurants, fitness and parking facilities.

  • De Markthal: you'll find an indoor market hall in various world-class cities, but the combination with luxury housing makes Rotterdam's Markthal the first of its kind. The apartments are draped over the food market in a horseshoe configuration. The Markthal has about 100 fresh food stands, nearly 15 food shops and various restaurants.

  • Hotel New York; Dine near the Maas in one of Rotterdams finest restaurants. Hotel New York used to be the startingpoint for the Holland-Americaline.

  • Erasmusbrug: the 800-metre long Erasmus Bridge spans the Maas River and links the northern and southern parts of Rotterdam. The suspension bridge has a 139-metre high steel pylon, which is secured with 40 cables. The shape of the pylon gave the bridge its nickname, The Swan . The Erasmus Bridge is the icon of Rotterdam.

  • The Euromast; From the platforms of the Euromast the views across the city and harbour are truly spectacular. If you manage to keep your vertigo under control and step into the rotating lift, you will reach the very top of this striking, 185-metre high tower.

  • Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen: museum Boijmans Van Beuningen is one of the oldest museums in the Netherlands. Its collection is built on the legacy of jurist Frans Jacob Otto Boijmans, who left his personal collection to the city of Rotterdam in 1849.
  • Museum Kunsthal; Kunsthal Rotterdam is an extraordenary artgallery which yearly hosts 25 different expositions. The Kunsthal shows arts in all its forms: old arts, new arts, design, photography, from elite to populaire.

  • Blijdorp Zoo; In Blijdorp Zoo, you can spend hours wandering among all kinds of (dangerous) animals. The zoo’s Oceanium has a massive indoor aquarium, with a tunnel that runs below the sharks.

  • Rotterdam Port Experience; You can undergo the sheer size of the port of Rotterdam with Rotterdam Port Experience, an interactive introduction to Europe’s biggest port.

  • Cube homes; Near Blaak a forest of the world famous Cube Homes arises. The museum house gives you a great perspectives of what life in a cube home is like. 

  • Marketplace on saturdays (Blaak); There's a market in the heart of Rotterdam every saturday. Cultures come closer and mix, which leads to an interesting mix of stands and people. 

  • Skyline; The Erasmusbrug, the Willemsbrug and the many high buildings along the Maas form the impressive skyline of Rotterdam. A trip along or on the Maas is recommended.  

  • Spido; During a Spido harbour tour, you find yourself face to face with enormous ships in the port of Rotterdam.
