Law and economics can no longer be ignored from the legal debate. Judges, lawyers and scientists increasingly make use of legal-economic insights and arguments. The Department of Law and Economics provides education and conducts research in the field of economic analysis of law.
The Department's research covers a broad and diverse field of law and economics. The Department participates in the research programme Behavioral Approaches to Contract and Tort (BACT).
The education includes the Erasmus Mundus Master programme in Law and Economics, selected and subsidized by the European Commission. In addition, the Department is active in the European PhD Program in Law and Economics, which is also accredited by Erasmus Mundus.
Both programs are carried out with various reputable partner universities.
