A festival to celebrate, showcase, and present the different nationalities and cultures of our own students with a food fair, workshops, exhibitions, dance, music, theatre, magic, and more! All presented by students and the International and Cultural Student Associations of Erasmus University Rotterdam!

In light of the Lustrum Celebrations of Erasmus University Rotterdam, Studium Generale, Erasmus Multicultural Associations, and the International Office have joined forces to organise the Connecting Cultures Festival at Campus Woudestein during the yearly Week of the International Student.

Day Programme

Inspired by Jules Verne ‘Around the World in 80 Day’s, Mathieu Polak, carillonist of EUR, will tour the world in just 30 minutes. To celebrate the different cultures of the world, you will hear all kind of music from many countries played at the bell tower of EUR.

Nothing connects people like the universal language of food. This Food Fair features food stands from over 11 international student associations. Join us to discover tastes from all over the world: from savory to sweet, and everything in between. You’ll receive a stamp card, which gives you the opportunity to taste five snacks from our diverse selection of stands.

  • Price: free. If you want to be sure to get a stamp card, we recommend you to order your free ticket in advance, however, a number of stamp cards will also be available at the door. Get your ticket now via Stager

An exhibition of paintings, made by Ghanaian artists. The art is provided by Hybridacia, a platform, created by Nathaniël Donkor and Erik Owusu, for talented but underrepresented African artists. Hybridacia aims to contribute to expanding the reach of Africa's creatives by promoting and showcasing their art on a global stage.

During this workshop, you'll have an introduction to Scottish Country Dancing! At Scottish gatherings and events, a "Ceilidh" is often a central part of the programme. What is a Ceilidh? It is a Scottish social event that involves traditional folk music and dancing!

In this workshop you’re going to learn traditional embroidery as it is used as decoration on traditional Eastern European clothing.

Walk through the gallery of Erasmus Paviljoen and take a glance at the photographs taken by our students, reflecting the uniqueness of their cultural heritage. Each image tells the story of the richness of the individual backgrounds of our students, which make our campus as diverse as it is today. You can dive deeper into the stories behind the pictures by reading the descriptions attached to each photograph.
