Working on... a dream.

MyFuture LL.M. | Programme

BLOCK 1 (September/October)

  • We all know it is a globalizing world. Right now, you are studying in an international environment. After graduation, you might want to work abroad, or you might find yourself in an international company, working with people from different cultures. In this workshop, you will learn to recognize how your culture differs from others, what the impact of these cultural differences are, and how to effectively and agreeably collaborate with people from different cultures while staying true to your own norms and values.

We will also touch upon practical matters such as: task-oriented vs. relationship oriented management, direct vs. indirect communication, approaches to hierarchy, and what kind of behaviour is expected from MA students in the university environment.

  • What is your plan for the future? Is it to get your diploma, or is that just a means to an end? What are you going to do after graduation, and how are you going to get there? In this workshop, you’ll learn to effectively set goals and how to achieve them. Learn to differentiate between realism and optimism. Think BIG. Act SMART (Specific, Measurable, Acceptable, Realistic and Time-bound).

  • Your agenda is overcrowded. 138 must-do’s, 23 last minute plans, 42 engagements and at 8:00 p.m. you’ll have a beer with your friends. Learn to manage yourself, and your agenda (in that order). Yes you can! Tips and tricks for effective agenda management. Learn to prioritize, and to save yourself some precious time.

BLOCK 2 (November/December)

  • After graduation, you might want to work abroad, or in an international environment. In this workshop, you will learn how to prepare yourself for entering the labour market. Part of the workshop will focus on the Dutch labour market, another part on the international labour market. You will learn how you can optimize your chances of finding a job abroad or in an international environment, by learning how to meet the expectations of organisations. You will do an online test to check what cultural profile you have, and learn how to best exploit the strong traits of your profile. A substantial part of the workshop will focus on the most striking cultural aspects of the Dutch labour market.
  • You are not the first student graduating from Erasmus School of Law. Meet your predecessors, get an idea of what different kind of careers are in store for you, and take the opportunity to ask them all about their careers: how did they decide on what job they wanted, how did they go about finding and landing their dream job, what does their current job entail?

If you are an international student and would like to start your career in the Netherlands after graduation, this evening will also bring you all the necessary information on rules and regulations on for example work and residence permits.
