The Rotterdam Student Orchestra is back and presents Italian opera, a romantic flute concerto, and Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony! For the flute concerto, the orchestra is joined by soloist Federico Altare.
With the first piece, Rossini’s famous Overture to The Barber of Seville, the RSO brings the fun and playfulness of Italian comic opera on the stage of the Paviljoen. An ideal way to reintroduce the orchestra after an unusually long absence!
For the second piece of the evening, the orchestra had the opportunity to work with skilled Italian flute player Federico Altare. Together, RSO and the soloist explore the blissfulness and all the virtuosic moments of Reinecke’s romantic Flute Concerto in D major.
To conclude the evening, RSO has picked Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony. The striking beauty of its two movements enures unforgettable moments full of atmosphere and serves as a reminder that even if a piece of music finishes, the music never ends.
Repertoire:
•   Gioachino Rossini: The Barber of Seville Overture
•   Carl Reinecke: Flute Concerto in D major
•   Franz Schubert: Symphony No. 8 (Unfinished Symphony)
Soloist (flute): Federico Altare
