Timeline of exchange
As an exchange student at ESSB, you will have the possibility to be a part of exchange programme during the fall semester/academic year (September – December/September-June) or spring semester (January – June). The application period of the fall semester/academic year will run from April 15-May 15 and the application period of the spring semester will run from September 1-30.
Please read the information carefully to be fully prepared for your exchange. Please keep in mind that the information marked grey is only applicable after you received a letter of admission. These steps will become topical for you once you are an addmited exchange student. You will then be redirected to the webpages of admitted students.

Selection and nomination by your host university. Ask the international office/exchange coordinator at your home university what needs to be done in order to be nominated as an exchange student in Rotterdam. After we receive the nomination from your university we will confirm it to you and send further instructions. This planning is indicative and dependent on the procedures of your university.

April 15-May 15
September 1 – 31
Pick courses in cooperation with your home university coordinator. While filling out the application form you must register for courses you are intending to follow.
|Fill out the online application form including the requested information and documents.|
May 15-June 1
October 1 – 15
|Host University||Review applications.|
|Send admission letters and instructions regarding the choice of courses.|
|Request the Immigration Desk to contact you with further instruction regarding the immigration procedure (if applicable).|
June – August
October - December
|Student||Once you receive the letter of admission from the International Office, you are an admitted exchange student. Learn more about your exchange on the pages for admitted students of Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences.|
|Respond to the Immigration Desk and return the requested documents as soon as possible (if applicable).|
Search for accommodation. Please note that this will take time. We advise you to start your search for a place to stay as soon as possible.

Register you in the university student administration system and send you ERNA account details.
September - December/ June

You will leave for your exchange period abroad. Welcome in Rotterdam and don’t forget to enjoy your exchange!
Make sure to attend the mandatory introduction days organized by Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences. The university also offers non-mandatory general orientation activities in order to get to know the university and to meet fellow students.
