What is the role of translocal networking for just sustainability transitions? And which networks engage in making our world more just and sustainable? In this 2-hour online event, you can join other makers and thinkers to tackle the economic, ecological and social challenges of our times. Speakers from different perspectives will share their experiences with networking for sustainability transitions before we dive collectively into co-producing knowledge on a range of different translocal networks for the Wiki knowledge commons.  The event is part of the event series on Just Sustainability Transitions

Panel discussion: the role of translocal networking in just sustainability transitions

During this event, we will discuss the relevance of translocal networking for justice and sustainability and the diversity of networks and forms of networking in different societal domains. These discussions will be fuelled by inputs by amongst others Duncan Crowley from the ECOLISE network sharing his practical expertise and Dr. Corinna Hölzl-Verwiebe from the Humboldt University Berlin sharing her knowledge from research into the role of networking for housing commons.

Wikithon for just sustainability transitions

Moving on from these discussions, we will become hands-on and together engage in creating and sharing knowledge about translocal networking as part of a Wikithon. This is a workshop, where we collectively, and in teams, will add and edit pages to the Wiki on Sustainable and Just Cities, which is an open-ended online collaborative database and knowledge source. The idea is to add multiple networks working on justice and sustainability in cities, that the participants are aware of, as pages to the Wiki. By working in teams of five, there is enough room for exchange and discussion amongst each other. The JUSTRA team will guide you through the process.

The resulting database may serve several purposes: to inform networks about the existence of other similarly minded networks they can collaborate with, for initiatives to learn and be inspired in their own processes of network formation, and for researchers to explore the breadth and depth of translocal networking for just sustainability transitions.
