After nearly twenty-five years, the Faculty of Social Sciences (FSW) is being renamed. From 1 September 2017, the faculty will be called Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences, reflecting the faculty’s multidisciplinary and international character.

The Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences of the Erasmus University Rotterdam received grants for three projects from the European Erasmus+ program for education, youth and sport.

The Erasmus Graduate School of Social Sciences and the Humanities (EGSH) has been awarded with a 400.000 euros EU Erasmus+ grant. With this grant, the Graduate School can improve PhD education.

Public Administration scores #1 in this year’s Subject Rankings of The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), also known as Shanghai Ranking. This means Public Administration at the Erasmus University Rotterdam is assessed as the best in the annual Shanghai Subject Rankings.

Political sociologist dr. Eefje Steenvoorden of Erasmus University Rotterdam won the Jaarprijs Politicologie ‘Best Doctoral Dissertation’ for her dissertation Societal Pessimism: A study of its conceptualization, causes, correlates and consequencesThe Jaarprijs Politicologie is a joint initiative of the Dutch political science association and the political science association in Belgium. She defended her dissertation at the University of Amsterdam in 2016.
