Dr. Marisela Martínez Claros was born on March 6th, 1978 in Mexico City, Mexico (since 2015 she also has the Dutch nationality, but she will always be a very proud Mexican). She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in the National Autonomous University of Mexico, (U.N.A.M.). During her medical studies she was part of the academic excellence group, where she studied using Problem Based Learning.
After receiving her medical doctor degree she worked at the Institute of Cellular Physiology, in the laboratory of Neurobiology of Learning and Memory. Here, besides researching she was also teacher and PBL tutor in the Faculty of Medicine and in the Faculty of Sciences (Biology). In August 2008, she was awarded with a Marie-Curie fellowship grant and she finished her PhD at the Department of Neuroscience in Maastricht University. In 2013, after her PhD graduation, she started working at EUC.
Why do you work at EUC?
After my PhD graduation I was looking for a job that allowed me to do what I enjoy the most: have contact with students. I applied to be a tutor together with a whole bunch of enthusiastic and qualified people, and I was selected! I am very lucky (and extremely happy). I had the privilege to start working since the beginning of EUC. I will always remember the first week: positive energy, commitment and eagerness to make things work. We have more students, more colleagues and a beautiful building, but the feelings are the same.
