Prof. Maarten Frens
Prof. Maarten Frens (NL) studied Medical Biology and Biomedical Physics in Utrecht. He obtained his PhD at the Radboud University in Nijmegen. Then he worked as a postdoc in Zuerich (CH) and Brisbane (AU). Since 1996 he has worked at the Erasmus MC Medical Center, where he has been a full professor since 2004. Here he runs a lab within the department of Neuroscience. He was appointed Dean of EUC in 2013.
Maarten is married and has two daughters. Hobbies include music, books, games, travel, and family life.
Why do you work at EUC?
I got gradually more and more involved in EUC in the very initial stages. First as a representative of the Neuroscience department, then of Erasmus MC, then as a member of the core team. I liked that so much that when the ad for Dean was posted, I immediately applied.
