Eurekaweek Board 2021

    In the summer of 2017, I started my Eurekaweek together with thousands of other students. I met new people, I attended all the events and activities, and most importantly I became familiar with a new, yet very pleasant, concept: student life. All this combined resulted in the Eurekaweek being the flying start for my time in Rotterdam.

    Now, a few years later, my studies are almost coming to an end. However, before I could start this last phase of my studies, I aspired to do something else first. After helping as a board assistant in 2020, I knew I wanted nothing more than to be a part of the Eurekaweek board 2021 to give your student time as good a start as mine. Although the future may still seem uncertain, my eight board members and I will do everything in our power to provide you with the best introduction week possible.

    When I attended the Eurekaweek in 2017, a world opened up to me. The opportunities during your student time are endless! Do you want to invest? Volunteer? Play sports? Everything is possible and the Eurekaweek shows this like no other. Add thousands of fellow students who you can befriend to the mix and you get a gateway to your student time that includes everything you could possibly wish for.

    As Treasurer I'm responsible for the financial picture of the Eurekaweek. My responsibilities range from making a budget to managing the payment systems during the week. The best thing about my function is that you are constantly involved with all your fellow board members, because everyone has bills to pay.

    It is shaping up to be a year where we need to venture off the beaten track and where we have to take different scenarios into account. I'm looking forward to facing this challenge in the coming year with this close-knit team!

    With the Eurekaweek in 2016 as the beginning of my student life in Rotterdam, I couldn't have wished for a better start. I got to see the city in a new light, became familiar with the university, and on top of that met a lot of new people. In short, the Eurekaweek has allowed me to discover all that Rotterdam has to offer. After having had such a great week myself, I decided to contribute to the Eurekaweek in the years hereafter. I have guided participants, I have been active in the guide committee, and I have been part of the crew. All this together certainly motivated me to apply for the Eurekaweek Board.

    This year, I have the opportunity to work with a fantastic team to organize the Eurekaweek 2021. Together with Prosper, I am responsible for the acquisitions. This means that we will be in charge of bringing in sponsors. As such, we will be in close contact with numerous profit and non-profit organizations during the coming year. I am looking forward to the Eurekaweek and I have the greatest confidence that together we will make this week an unforgettable one!

    The beauty of starting at university is that everyone starts afresh. New faces, new places, and new opportunities. The Eurekaweek bundles all this together in a fun-filled week to ease your transition period. In 2017, I embarked on this journey and I could not have thought of a better way to start my student life! During the Eurekaweek, I joined various associations and made friends that I still see to this day. I enjoyed this week so much that in the following years I decided to become a guide and part of the crew.

    I have always been very appreciative of the Eurekaweek and the opportunities it has given me. This, combined with my passion for helping others, fueled my ambition to become an integral part of the week. Together with Anna, I have the pleasure of functioning as Commissioner of Acquisition this year. This means that we will be responsible for the communication with all companies and organisations that are tied to the Eurekaweek. I look forward to organising this week together with my fellow board members and I hope that you will experience just as an unforgettable Eurekaweek as I have in the past! See you all in August!

    My Eurekaweek adventure started in 2016 as a participant. During this week I met a lot of friends who I am still in contact with today and signed up for several associations. In 2018, I decided to become a guide, this was an amazing week as well. Last year I wanted to join the Eurekaweek again, however, from a different point of view: as Headcrew. This was an unforgettable experience which convinced to join the board of 2021.

    As commissioner of internal events, I am responsible for the communication with all associations affiliated with the university. This position appealed to me, as I think it is important that (new) students feel welcome to sign up to the associations that fits their interests. This way, the students can develop themselves and get the best out of their student life.

    Together with my eight fellow board members we will make sure that the Eurekaweek 2021 will be an amazing week again! See you in August!

    In 2017, now 4 years ago, the great adventure of a student life began for me. At that time, I chose to study in Rotterdam because a large, vibrant city really appealed to me. Until the Eurekaweek I knew very little about the city and I hardly knew anyone who lived there. My first impressions of this beautiful city came mainly through the Eurekaweek! In one week, I had learned so much and met so many people that I immediately had a solid foundation to fully enjoy the student life in the years that followed. I wanted others to be able to experience this as well, which is why I guided twice in the following years and helped with the organization as a crew member once. Again, these were unforgettable weeks!

    This year I chose to join the board of the organization, to share the experience I had 4 years ago with many others. In this position I am responsible for the guides and participants. That means that I have a lot of contact with everyone who will be participating in the Eurekaweek. The responsibility and the fact that you speak with many different people makes for a challenging and dynamic year! I look forward to celebrating the Eurekaweek with you next year !!!

    I experienced the Eurekaweek for the first time in 2017, as a participant. Before the week I was nervous because I did not know what to expect. When it started however, I felt like everything was falling into place. Together with my group we went to different events and we learned more about the university and Rotterdam. I am sure the Eurekaweek is the reason why I feel so at home in Rotterdam.

    In 2020, I was also part of the Eurekaweek as a member of the media committee. This was an amazing experience because I got to have a taste of what it’s like to do the marketing of such an event. This year I am responsible for the marketing of the Eurekaweek. Creativity is my passion and I try to look for creative ways to promote this week.

    I am looking forward to making this an unforgettable week for upcoming students with the rest of the board!

    2018 was my first contact with the Eurekaweek. Together with a group of other participants, our time as real students started here and a brand new world opened up to me. During this time I have been able to experience Rotterdam as never before. The friends and experiences that I got out of this will always stay with me and have given me a great start to my new life as a student. I was able to make these experiences and memories again in 2019 and 2020 as a guide and crew. These experiences challenged and motivated me to apply this year for Eurekaweekboard 2021!


    This year, together with 8 fellow students, I will take on the challenge to create another great Eurekaweek. As Events & Logistics I am responsible for the maps of all locations and the content of the events. I therefore organize the events together with Lars from Events & Crew and together we ensure that all events are arranged as intended. I am very excited to have another unforgettable Eurekaweek this year and I hope you all will create the fantastic memories just like I did.

    My journey in Rotterdam started in 2017 with the Eurekaweek, and although such a new start isn't always easy, I couldn't have wished for a better kick-off to my student time. The Eurekaweek is an incredibly diverse event in which you become acquainted with all aspects of Erasmus University and the city of Rotterdam, and in which you quickly get to know your fellow students. During the Eurekaweek I also decided to join a study association where I ended up being part of two great committees.

    As a participant I was already intrigued by the size and complexity of the Eurekaweek and therefore I decided in 2018 to become part of the crew, which was more fun than I could have ever expected. When I returned after my exchange in Portugal, I immediately decided to sign up again for the Eurekaweek 2020 crew. Obviously, we had a completely different Eurekaweek compared to other editions. Nevertheless, it was a lovely experience again I'm still in touch with fellow crewers from both 2018 and 2020.

    This year I have the honour of organizing the Eurekaweek together with my eight fellow board members. My position, Events & Crew, combines the best of both worlds: on the one hand I am responsible for the organization of all individual events, on the other hand I am the lucky one to lead the crew. I am really looking forward to a memorable Eurekaweek!
