To celebrate International Women’s Day and to create awareness around  gender inequality, we present a double bill: a round table discussion with two leading voices on gender equality in the academic community and an acclaimed documentary chronicling the groundswell of researchers fighting gender discrimination and writing a new chapter for women scientists.

Round table discussion
How can we become more transparent? What are best practices, not only for organizations but also as individuals? How can we create a culture of care? What makes academia different to other areas confronting these problems? And what tools are available, both on institutional and personal level, to provide us with new perspectives on how to make science more diverse, equitable, and open to all.

In the round table discussion, Semiha Denktas and Hanneke Takkenberg will answer your questions, share their best practices and search for ways to break harmful patterns in the workplace.

Picture a Scientist
In the feature-length documentary, Picture a Scientist, three women recount their diverse, negative experience in the scientific world because of their gender, while also showing how their inner strength and love for their fields made it possible for them to change their surroundings for the better, becoming a role model for future generations and peers.

“Sweeping in scope yet intimately compelling.” Science.
“Quietly devastating.” The Boston Globe.

To take part in the round table discussion on March 8th and/or watch the documentary Picture a Scientist for free between 5-8 March (20.00 hrs ) Register here and you will receive both the link to the discussion and a code to watch the documentary online.
