Courses
The Language & Training Center offers most language courses 3 times a year (October to December, January to March and April to June). For Batch courses, the time periods are different. We also offer summer courses for some languages. Please check out on our website for the exact program for each language.
You can register for a course, intake, assessment or workshop via our webshop in Osiris. You can log in with your student ERNA or create one if you don't have one yet. Watch the video below for a detailed explanation of how to register via Osiris.
Please note: for an intake or assessment it is sometimes also required to make an appointment for a time slot. This can be done via the link on the intake / assessment page.
How to register
The courses that take place on Campus Woudestein or are offered online (via Zoom). Most classes take place in the evening.
Our courses are for students, employees and externals. We do ask you have an academic background (HBO/WO).
The groups consist of a maximum of 16 participants, unless stated otherwise. With less than 12 participants, LTC reserves the right to cancel a course.
Most of our courses are concluded with an exam. For some English courses, there is no final exam at the end of the course. Students need to complete all assignments, quizzes, the presentation, the final reading test and the final writing assignment in order to be eligible to pass the course. You will receive a certificate upon completion if you pass all exam components.
While following a course, you may already register for the follow-up level in the next period. Even if the result of the exam is not yet certain. If the deadline has passed and you have not passed the previous level, we will cancel your registration and you will receive a refund.
If the required number of participants is not reached, the LTC has the right to cancel a course. You will be informed about this and you will receive a refund.
About 2 months before the start date, the schedule will be published on the website and you can register. If you want to stay informed, sign up for a reminder (for the course of your choice) via the website www.eur.nl/ltc.
Attendance is not compulsory, but advisable. To be well-prepared for the final exam, we advise you to come to as many classes as possible.
If you have to miss a lesson, you should notify the teacher by email.
Please note: the last class consists of an oral test and a listening test. In order to pass a language course, you should be present on that particular day.
This can be done up to the registration deadline. Then you will be refunded. After the deadline, refunds are unfortunately no longer possible.
If you fail the course with one fail, you will have the opportunity to re-sit that part of the exam*. It is only possible to take a re-sit once.. If you have two or more fails it is not possible to take a re-sit. In that case you have to retake the course. You can request a re-sit via ltc@eur.nl.
Dutch
If you fail the course with one fail, you will have the opportunity to re-sit that part of the exam in the next exam period. It is only possible to take a re-sit once. You can only take a re-sit of the part you failed. If you have two or more fails it is not possible to take a re-sit; in that case you have to retake the course. The costs for the different parts or the re-sit are as follows:
- Writing: € 35
- Reading: € 35
- Listening: € 35
- Oral: € 35
English

- Reading: € 40
Spanish
If you fail the course with one fail, you will have the opportunity to re-sit that part of the exam in the next exam period. It is only possible to take a re-sit once. You can only take a re-sit of the part you failed. If you have two or more fails it is not possible to take a re-sit; in that case you have to retake the course. The costs for the different parts or the re-sit are as follows:
- Writing (Expresión Escrita): € 35,-
- Reading (Expresión Lectora): € 35,-
- Grammatica y Vocabulario: € 35,-
- Listening (Comprensión Auditivia): € 35,-
- Expresión/Interacción Oral: € 35,-
All other languages
Should you fail your course (total grade lower than 5.5 or "fail") or are you unable to attend your exam date, you may take a re-sit exam during the exam of the next course period if you meet the following requirements:
- You can only take the re-sit exam once.
- You cannot retake listening or oral tests, only the final written test.
- The costs of a re-sit are € 50,-
The courses are mainly given in the language itself. In addition, English is used as the language of instruction.
Participants are expected to spend approximately 3 hours per week on self-study in addition to the weekly contact hours.
Course materials are not included in most courses. We will inform you about the details in the confirmation.
For most courses, the course fee does not include any course materials. If it is included it will be clearly stated on the relevant webpage. You are obliged to buy the advised material before the start of the course or training course (the needed material will be mentioned in the confirmation letter which you will receive via email).
This almost never happens since an intake is mandatory and determines the correct entry level. If a level turns out to be incorrect, please send an email to ltc@eur.nl. We consult with the teacher. Changes are only possible if there is room in another group.
You register for the course yourself via the website. In the payment option, choose 'Other on account'. You then pay a registration fee of 2.50. Then send an e-mail to ltc@eur.nl with the details of your employer (company name, address, contact person and e-mail address). We will send the invoice after the start of the course.
You are able to pay via iDeal, Creditcard, Bancontact and Paypal in our web shop.
Please note that the final exam of a language course takes place in a separate session. This is on a predetermined date and can be found in the course schedule on the relevant webpage. For some English courses, there is no final exam at the end of the course. Students need to complete all assignments, quizzes, the presentation, the final reading test and the final writing assignments in order to be eligible to pass the course.
At ELS the courses are taught by students, at LTC by qualified teachers. The courses at LTC are also concluded with an exam and an official certificate.
You need to request a re-sit exam through the office of the Language & Training Centre.

- Please be on time, also after the break.
- You need to be fully visible on the screen during lessons and (part) exams (what we mean by this is not to use a ‘screen freeze’ photo or black screen).
- Standard procedure as a participant is to ‘mute’ unless you are exempt and have special permission from the teacher. You may only unmute with approval from the teacher.
- During the online lesson, you are a guest in the EUR learning environment and should act and present yourself accordingly.
- In case of misbehavior, the participant will receive a written warning; if misbehavior continues removal from the course will ensue.
- The Zoom lessons won’t be recorded.
Intakes & Assessments
Our courses are for students, employees and externals. We do ask you have an academic background (HBO/WO).
If you are no longer a beginner and want to enter at a higher level, an intake is mandatory. An intake is a short conversation (via Zoom) with the teacher and costs 5 euros (SP and NL). The intake for English consists of a conversation and a writing test and costs 55 euros.
An intake (short conversation with a teacher; and for English also a short writing test) determines which course you can enroll in. An assessment consists of an oral and a written test; and for English also a "Quick Placement Test". After an assessment you will receive a level statement, which you can use for example for master admission. Please make sure to always check if the LTC assesment is accepted by your study programme/faculty.
An intake English costs € 55,- and is valid for a period of one year. If you participate in a language course within a year, 50 % of the intake costs will be refunded within 3 weeks after your course has started.
If you participate in a language course within a year, 50% of the assessment / intake costs will be refunded within 3 weeks after your course has started.
