Lecture 4 - Text mining for cultural heritage
Speaker Dr. Marieke van Erp (VU Amsterdam)
Date Thursday 2 September 2010
Location Room H04-10, Campus Woudestein, Rotterdam
Objects in museum collections and archives form our collective memory and history. These objects are often accompanied by text, which provides both the key to the object's provenance as well as its relationship to other objects. Unfortunately, these textual resources are often not standardised and as such need cleaning, structuring and enrichment to provide easy access to the information they contain. In this lecture, I will introduce the field of text mining and show how it can be applied to both improve access and facilitate deeper understanding of cultural heritage.
This Lecture is not open to the public!
