Andrew Fischer and Charmaine Ramos participate in inaugural

On 26 May 2016, Andrew Fischer (Associate Professor of Social Policy and Development Studies) and Charmaine Ramos (post-doctoral researcher) are participating in the inaugural workshop of the Global Debt Dynamics Initiative (GDDI), organized by the Sussex Centre for Global Political Economy (CGPE) in co-operation with the IDS Centre for Rising Powers and Global Development (CRPD).

The GDDI aims both to advance the state-of-the-art in global debt analysis and to facilitate the creation of a new international research network on global debt dynamics and the changing relationship between advanced and emerging economies. For more information, see the University of Sussex website.

Dr Fischer is presenting his work on the symbiosis between redistribution and development and its relation to global debt dynamics, in the roundtable on the political economy of debt and development (see his recent working paper on this subject).

The participation of both Dr Fischer and Dr Ramos is connected to Dr Fischer's ERC-funded project , AIDSOCPRO (Aiding Social Protection: the Political Economy of Externally Financing Social Policy in Developing Countries; grant no. 638647), which examines the political economy of international development assistance directed towards the emerging social protection agenda among donors. For more information on this project, see the project webpage.
