Circular Jobs: Understanding Employment in the Circular Economy in the Netherlands
Jeroen van Haaren contributed to this project on behalf of Erasmus UPT by making a geographical analysis of the distribution of employment using descriptive and gravity models of core and enabling employment in circular industry. The team shows that 8.1 percent of employment in the Netherlands can be classified as having ‘circular’ properties, which covers 810.000 jobs. These are jobs that contribute to a more sustainable society by for instance reusing (raw) materials, instead of expending them. The report shows that there is still progress to be made if the government aims to meet its ambition to reach a fully circular economy by 2050.
