Database of the Month: Directory of Open Access Books
In October, Open Access gets special attention in libraries, at publishers and journals worldwide. On October 9, the Erasmus Open Access event takes place, anticipating the International Open Access Week Week (October 22 to 28, 2018). The Database of the Month is therefore an Open Access database: the Directory of Open Access Books (DOAB).
More and more books are published in Open Access, also by big publishers like Brill, De Gruyter, Springer and Oxford University Press. The goal of the DOAB is to increase the discoverability of Open Access, academic peer-reviewed books. The DOAB offers descriptions of OA (‘free to share’) books with links to the (freely accessible) full-text on the websites of the publishers. These books can also be found in sEURch. You can browse by subject or by publisher.
