The Supervisory Board of Erasmus University Rotterdam has appointed Eddy Hus as a temporary member of the Executive Board, effective 1 June 2017. He succeeds Bart Straatman who, due to health reasons, will resign from his position before completing his term.
Eddy Hus (44) is an experienced interim governor with extensive experience in higher education. In this capacity he has previously worked at, amongst others, NHL University of Applied Sciences, Radboud University and Hanze University of Applied Sciences. Hus studied Economics at the University of Amsterdam.
He will take over Bart Straatman’s portfolio. Straatman will unfortunately be resigning from his duties before completing his term due to health reasons. The Supervisory Board finds it extremely regrettable that Straatman will not be able to complete his second administrative term, and wishes to express its deep appreciation for the work he has carried out over a period of almost eight years.
Since taking up his position in February 2010, Straatman has carried out his work for the university with great enthusiasm. During his term he was the initiator and helmsman for the operational management programme BV2013. His leadership also led to a transformation of the campus Woudestein, hugely increasing its appeal to both Dutch and international students.
Naturally, a future date will be set to officially bid farewell to Bart Straatman. The Supervisory Board is currently focusing on recruitment efforts for Straatman’s successor.
