EUR unveils new policy for academic fairness and gender equality
During the event ‘Advancing Social Equity in Academia’ on 21st November, Erasmus University Rotterdam officially launched EUR 25/25—a policy measure to empower aspiring and talented female academics to prepare for the next level in their professional careers.
Supported by the Rector Magnificus, Executive Board, Deans, and University Council, this initiative is a significant step in ensuring fairness in academic promotions and ultimately boosting gender equality in the academic community of EUR.
“The percentage of female professors must rise to at least 25% in five years, and we are introducing new measures to that end. We have enough talented female university teachers who can grow towards professorship, "says Rutger Engels Rector Magnificus Erasmus University.
25/25 is open to Assistant and Associate Professors across all faculties at EUR, including Erasmus MC. Through dedicated mentoring, portfolio analysis, independent feedback on portfolios, and funds for eligible candidates, the 25/25 initiative marks a demonstrable commitment of the EUR community to realising more representation in its ranks.
"With this measure, we want a transparent, fair appointment process that is gender neutral to ensure women make it through the pipeline and towards success," said Professor Semiha Denktas, EUR Chief Diversity Officer.
