Looking for a new Students-for-Students Chair

The Community for Learning and Innovation (CLI) is looking for a new Students-for-Students Chair (0,3 fte, 12 hours per week)

As the Chair of Students-for-Students (S4S), part of the Community for Learning and Innovation (CLI), you will take part in the decision-making process regarding future projects and activities of S4S. This means you will assess new proposals from student initiatives to receive support from our platform and offer advice on how these students can turn their ideas into reality. In addition, you will be the contact person for our existing partnerships to help them grow their associations and increase their impact on campus.

This role also makes you a member of the CLI Core Team where you will be part of determining the future direction of the CLI through deciding on fellowship positions and developing strategic partnerships with other initiatives across EUR. This responsibility requires you to maintain good relations with the University Council and stay updated on relevant topics, most importantly the Higher Education Quality Agreements (Hoger Onderwijs Kwaliteitsafspraken).

As you represent the bridge between student projects and the CLI, you are responsible for getting more students involved with the CLI. This requires you to seek out creative collaborations with other organisations, pitch interesting ideas, promoting the S4S Platform, while expanding and engaging the CLI network of students. For that you will work together with an engaging and enthusiastic team of both students and CLI members.

(EUR-students only)

You are a strong candidate for this position if:

  • You are at least a third-year student and are preferably staying at EUR throughout 2020, preferably till mid 2021
  • You have a professional and inclusive attitude, and can work with different types of people;
  • You enjoy taking on responsibility for S4S, and are capable of leading a team of fellow students;
  • You are able to manage your own work, and to prioritise and delegate tasks;
  • You are familiar with the academic institute and its organisation;
  • You have relevant committee or project management experience (preferably at the EUR);
  • You are flexible and available to work outside business hours when necessary;
  • You have strong, professional communication skills;
  • You have experience with participatory bodies and are knowledgeable about relevant topics, such as the Higher Education Quality Agreements (Hoger Onderwijs Kwaliteitsafspraken);
  • You are able to justify your decisions logically, and explain the rationale to others;

We are looking for an initiative taker who is enthusiastic, proactive, decisive, flexible, with a can-do / get-to-work mentality and works well and transparently in a team. Experience within the board of a student association or one of the university’s participatory bodies (e.g Faculty/University Council or Programme Committees) is a plus. You have strong, professional verbal and writing communication skills in English, understanding of Dutch is not required but helpful.

Please note that you do not have to tick all the boxes, but this is to give you an idea of what we are looking for and expecting from you.

What we have to offer is a student assistant contract for 12 hours per week (flexible hours). We are looking for someone who can start in January 2020. Your contract duration will depend on your availability but will at minimum last until August 2020, with a possible extension till August 2021.

The Community for Learning and Innovation (CLI) is a network for sharing knowledge and collaborating on the innovation of education through professional development and digitalisation. The CLI supports, connects and expands existing networks in the area of learning and innovation. The CLI brings people together who want to move forward with their education. By connecting people, projects gain synergies and new ideas and initiatives arise. The ambition of the CLI is to create a meeting place for everyone with a passion for education in order to help each other, inspire and achieve results.

The Students-for-Students (S4S) Platform stimulates and facilitates students’ projects which contribute to improving the quality of education for students. S4S is funded by government resources, which are freed up by the abolition of the Dutch basic student grant (“basisbeurs”) and are now transferred directly to the universities to invest in the improvement of education. By enabling students to contribute to the improvement of their education, S4S brings these resources back to the students. For more information on CLI, please visit eur.nl/s4s.

Please apply for this position by sending your Curriculum Vitae and a motivation letter (no longer than 1 A4) to our Students-for-Students email: s4s@eur.nl before 3 January 2020. We will let you know before 5 January whether you will be invited for a short interview. For more information about the position, please contact Kyra Heidemanns at heidemanns@eur.nl
