Polak building reopened
Polak Building is open again! The 600 study places and 24 teaching rooms have been taken back into use by students.
Obviously the most import thing is the safety of the building. The execution and placement of the reinforcement measures have been checked by Royal HaskoningDHV. They have made an official statement that the flooring meets the safety requirements. Bouw- en Woningtoezicht Rotterdam has also agreed with the chosen solution. The building can therefore be safely put into use again.
What has happened in the recent months?
The evacuation of Polak Building took place on Thursday, October 19, 2017. After two months the most suitable solution for strengthening the floors was found in consultation with experts. Anchoring and strengthening of floors with steel strips started in mid-January in places where the floor tension was too high. This construction work was completed at the beginning of March 2018.
Read detailed information about the steps that took place from the sudden evacuation in October 2017 until the reopening in March 2018.
An information desk in Polak Building will be present on Tuesday 3 April to answer questions. In addition, we expect that transparency in the steps that have been taken also creates clarity. Do you still have questions? Send an email to email@example.com.
Shops ground floor
Now that Polak Building is open, the shops on the ground floor are also moving back to their permanent location. Hairdesign by Lydia will start again on Tuesday 3 April. Randstad, Study Store and the Copyshop will move slightly later. All three will move back to Polak on Monday, April 23, 2018.
All temporary study places will be canceled in the coming period with the reopening of Polak Building. Do you want to know more about this? All information about the study places, such as the location and the corresponding opening hours, can be found at eur.nl/studieplekkenOpens external. You will also be able to find large poster boards and stickers with general information on campus.
