Remembering all war victims

On the 4th of May, the first National Youth Commemorations will take place in Rotterdam as part of the many Remembrance Day commemorations taking place throughout the country.
It will be a memorial for and by young people to remember all war victims throughout history in their own way. This special Remembrance Day program will provide an experience for all the senses.
Program and Location
The commemoration will take place in the new Luxor Theater and will feature special guests The Smartphone Orchestra and Akwasi, as well as a pop-up poetry store, a 'wereldwensenmuur' (world wishing wall) and short scenes of 'oorlog in mijn huis' (war in my house). After this the program will include the moving visual performance De loop der dingen (A Chain-Reaction of Things) created by Hofplein Rotterdam, in which 40 young actors will create a link to the current situation in the world without using words.
At a secret location in Rotterdam, a large light monument will be created on the 4th of May. Everyone is invited to help with the display, which will consist of more than 10,000 coloured candles. When combined, these candles will form a big light drawing designed by Rotterdam artist Iwan Smit.
