Despite the recent economic turmoil, a career in finance is still hugely popular among students. Many students aspire to start their career at a big international investment bank in London, which is confirmed by the admission figures: Goldman Sachs regularly receives 33 highly qualified applicants per job.
Academic background is an important factor to get into these banks. Efinancialcareers.com, the recruitment website from The Wall Street Journal, did research to the profiles of juniors working at Goldman Sachs and J.P Morgan. They found that most of the employees (ca. 75%) came from elite universities in Continental Europe. The website regards Eramus School of Economics as one of these institutions.
