When you need to find literature on a particular topic, these databases are recommended:
|CINAHL: Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature|
CINAHL covers nursing, biomedicine, health sciences librarianship, alternative/complementary medicine, consumer health and 17 allied health disciplines. It offers complete coverage of English-language nursing journals and publications from the National League for Nursing and the American Nurses' Association.
Collection of separate databases about evidence-based medicine and research methodology: Systematic Reviews, Reviews of Effects, Register of Controlled Trials, Health Technology Assessment and NHS Economic Evaluation.
Biomedical and pharmaceutical database indexing over 7500 international journals.
Database of the National Library of Medicine (USA), which indexes over 4000 international biomedical journals. The MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) is used to index articles.
Scopus is a multidisciplinary abstract and citation database of research literature (journals and books). It contains records going back to the mid 1960s.
UpToDate is an evidence-based clinical information resource on patient care and is used by patients and clinicians.
