I have a background in nursing and worked as an intensive care nurse for almost 17 years in several intensive care settings in hospitals in the Netherlands, Switzerland and in the United Kingdom.
From 2003 until 2009 I studied Sociology at the University of Groningen, where I obtained a Master degree in Sociology of Health, Care and Well-being. My graduation thesis was an exploratory qualitative study on the conditions of moral case deliberation for nurses in a general healthcare facility.
After graduation I worked as a medical sociologist/ teacher at the department of Medical Ethics (EEZ) of the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG).
In March 2010 I started working at the Erasmus University Rotterdam.
