Rashid received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science (’09) from Whitworth University, USA. He continued his academic career at the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Academy in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic, where he received a Master of Arts Degree in Politics and Security (’13). Having graduated from the OSCE Academy Rashid taught Political Science at the International University in Central Asia and conducted research projects with institutions in Europe and the United States.

Rashid received a Master of Advanced Studies Degree in International and European Security (’16) from the Global Studies Institute of the University of Geneva, Switzerland, and attended a Leadership in International Security Course at the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP). In Geneva, Rashid investigated media discourses on “refugee crisis” in Europe and the respective portrayal of Syrian refugees in mass media.
