Siri Driessen is a PhD candidate within the project War! Popular Culture and European Heritage of Major Armed Conflicts. Her sub-project ‘Touching War’ focuses on the many visits that are made to locations that are related to three European armed conflicts of the twentieth century: the First World War, the Second World War and the civil war in former Yugoslavia. What motivates people to visit these bleak remnants of history?
War! Is a collaborative project of ErMeCC, the Center for Historical Culture and Erasmus Studio and is funded by the Research Excellence Initiative (REI) of the Erasmus University. The sub-project ‘Touching War’ is supervised by prof. dr. Stijn Reijnders and prof. dr. Maria Grever.
Siri obtained a bachelor degree in History at the University of Amsterdam as well as a BA in Fine Arts. She received a research master in Cultural Analysis (cum laude) at the University of Amsterdam.
