Sohail Wahedi focuses on the relationship between law and religion. He is interested in the constitutional value of religion and the way religious practices, which are considered obligatory for some minority groups are approached within liberal democracies. In this context he has various publications, among others on male circumcision and the legal approach towards face-covering dresses.
His main aim is to provide a theoretical base to a general tendency regarding the way the admissibility of traditional religious practices is approached. Based hereon, he wants to reflect on the contemporary constitutional value of religion.
