The first year of the research master offers rigorous training in the core of economics, econometrics and finance. In the second year, students specialize in their choice from the institute's many fields of research through field course work and thesis research. Students who perform well in the programme are invited to transfer to the three-year PhD programme.
Mode of education
The programme’s first year: students complete core courses, field courses and a seminar series, where research fellows introduce themselves. These seminars allow students to explore potential supervisors and fields of specialisation. In the second year, students have to complete 30 ECTS of specialised coursework and write a thesis. For more information go to the Tinbergen Institute website.
Tinbergen Institute offers one research programme with three specialisations (tracks): one in economics, one in econometrics and one in finance. The three tracks have the same structure, institutions and regulations. All tracks provide access to a three-year PhD track.
