Regardless of what career you aspire, it is important to start thinking about career opportunities and transferable skills in an early stage. Erasmus University has several facilities available to offer you support in your future career. Erasmus University Rotterdam values your personal development. Therefore, we stimulate and support you in actively shaping your own career and developing yourself in the direction or job that you aspire.

Career Coach

Where am I in my career? Do you have any questions about this? Would you like to get more from your work? Do you find it difficult to make important choices about your career? Would you like to know where your chances are on the labour market?

Erasmus University Rotterdam has a team of dedicated Career Coaches. Request a no-obligation first talk, to learn more, put your question and look together at what support is needed or desired. Send an email to careercoach@eur.nl for an appointment. If you wish to continue you can choose for a coaching session, e-coaching or career development path. Career advice is free for EUR staff.

Career in Progress

Career in progress is a collective term within EUR used for everything that can be designated as career development and professional mobility for employees. All of the available facilities can be consulted on the website careerinprogress.eur.nl (available for the employees). Via the website you can request career advice, apply for courses, takes tests and much more.

Personal Career Budget

All employees also have a so-called personal career budget. This is an annual budget of 500 euros which can be spend on career development (training, courses etc.). Employees are allowed to save up the budget for a maximum of three years, to a combined total of 1.500 euros. In addition, employees annually have two personal development days (proportional to the number of hours worked if less than full-time), which can be allocated towards career development.

TOP career training (Training and Development Platform) offers a range of coursers that help you take control of your career during and after your PhD trajectory.

Career Week & PhD Career Day

Career Week takes place annually in the last week of May. During the Career Week, which is organized every year by HR, all EUR employees can participate in workshops, training courses, and other activities. Think of themes such as reflecting on your career development, taking the next step, (personal) leadership, happiness at work, and work / private balance. During the Career Week there are especially dedicated sessions and workshops for PhD candidates.
