Creative industries is an assemblage of different themes, topics and disciplines and is marked by the Dutch government as a ‘top sector’. Being marked a top sector means ‘an area where the Dutch business community and research centers globally excel’. In order to substantiate the economic and innovative developments currently accompanying the creative industry, researchers implement a hands-on approach collaborating with partners in the field. Because creative industries encompass a broad variety of disciplines, the scholars working on the topic come from different faculties within Erasmus University Rotterdam, which results in an interdisciplinary approach.
